Federal YIMBY Bills, Pre-approved Plans. The host for this show is Jonathan Helton. The guest is Andrew Justus.
U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawai’i recently reintroduced bipartisan legislation that would incentivize state and local governments to liberalize housing regulations around transit projects. This follows a string of other federal bills aimed at encouraging states to boost housing supply.
Andrew Justus, a housing policy analyst at the Washington, D.C.-based Niskanen Center, thinks these innovative housing solutions should be pursued at all levels of government.
Justus joins ‘Hawaii Together’ host Jonathan Helton to talk about these federal bills, as well as other policy options such as pre-approved building plans, prefabricated housing and others being pursued across the country.
