Is the World Running out of Resources (Hawaii Together)
How Freedom Creates Superabundance. The host for this show is Keli’i Akina. The guest is Gale Pooley.
The world’s population is growing quickly. By the end of the year, more than 8 billion people will inhabit planet earth. Some people argue that this growth is unsustainable and that the earth cannot support so many people, but BYU Hawaii professor Gale Pooley has a more optimistic outlook.
In his new book, ‘Superabundance: The Story of Population Growth, Innovation, and Human Flourishing on an Infinitely Bountiful Planet,’ Pooley and his co-author Marian Tupy argue that population growth leads to abundance, not scarcity. More people create more innovation and a higher standard of living, he writes.
On today’s episode of Hawaii Together, host Keli‘i Akina, president and CEO of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, speaks with Pooley about his new book and its implications for Hawaii and the world.
