Impossible…but it Could Happen (Figments: On Reality)
Black Swans on the Horizon. The host for this show is Dan ‘Fig’ Leaf.
The assassination of President John F. Kennedy fifty-eight years ago seemed impossible until it happened. Fig shares his recollection of the day and its aftermath, and ways that the event changed the course of history. That was a black swan – a a phenomenon that occurs even though it had been thought to be impossible.
Fig examines the situation in Chile where a presidential election and revision of the constitution may fundamentally change what is arguably the most stable and successful democracy in Latin America. The black swan in this equation was a 30-peso (US$0.05) in October 2019 that sparked over two years of unrest and upheaval and set the stage for a political earthquake. Fig talks about the possible consequences and how it may relate to the political situation in the United States.
The host examines the potential for other black swans in the US and elsewhere.
