China, Taiwan and the U.S. (Figments: On Reality)
What You Should Know. The host for this show is Dan ‘Fig’ Leaf.
Dan “Fig” Leaf’s expertise and experience bring clarity to the complex issues between China, Taiwan and the United States. When the U.S. and the Peoples’ Republic of China normalized relations in 1979, both sides accepted the notion that Taiwan would eventually “reunify” with the mainland. Of course it isn’t that simple, and tensions are unusually high in 2021.
This episode will give clarity to the history, present tensions and what is at risk. The three key players in this high stakes drama have different perspectives and interests, leaving plenty of room for misunderstanding and miscalculation.
With military and civilian experience dealing with the China-Taiwan dilemma, and having traveled extensively in both places, Fig frames the key issues and addresses what can and should be done to avoid conflict.
