Working Together to Prevent Bullying – HYSN – Judith Clark and Rachel Ferguson
Working Together to Prevent Bullying: the oldest Scout show in America! A family-oriented event, Scouts and non-Scouts can participate in games and experience the outdoors. Bullying is the physical, verbal, sexual, or psychological harassment of individuals that can occur among youth of the same age, between an adult and a youth, between adults, between able-bodied and disabled, at school, in the workplace—bullying is a problem which knows no socioeconomic bounds and does not discriminate among who it effects. Youth that are the target of bullying are more likely to have difficulty concentrating and participating in school and are more susceptible to anxiety and depression. In this show, Rachel and Jay discuss causes and impacts of bullying and efforts to prevent bullying, including an anti-bullying initiative in the Honolulu County Dept. of Parks and Recreation and a culturally relevant bullying prevention video.
