USA to Give Ukraine Cluster Bombs (American Issues Take One)
The Ethics of New Technology Warfare. The hosts for this show are Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell. The guest is Chuck Crumpton.
Cluster bombs are being used against Ukrainian soldiers. Russia has been using this devastating weapon since the early days of Putin’s War. One bomb divides into hundreds of smaller bombs, and as its name suggests, blasts deadly shrapnel just above the heads of troops in the field or trenches. Most countries have agreed to outlaw them in war. Russia and the USA have not signed that pact. This week President Biden has consented to their use in Ukraine. The panel discusses the ethics of cluster bombs, and why the USA will give them to Ukraine.
