In order to take attention away from the administration’s failure to curb COVID-19 and restore jobs, sports, and normalcy, Trump sends, against the wishes of State of Oregon Governor and City of Portland mayor, federal police to fend off protesters from federal property sites. The issue is they are acting with brutality toward peaceful protesters. Since their identity is shielded, it’s difficult to document and prevent the abuse. Trump has promised that more police will be sent to Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, despite the protests of state governors and attorney generals. The action has increased the tension and is increasing protester turnout.
