Is the current approach to homelessness working? What does increasing homelessness tell us about our economy and our society? What other, more creative things can we do? How about making some fundamental changes to the system. Let’s look at places where homelessness does not exist, like Singapore. Is the answer in providing housing or more benefits or perhaps using a carrot and stick approach? What about a new WPA to put people to work on government projects? What is the link between homelessness, drugs and mental health? The problem is so big and getting so much bigger that we really need to come up with better solutions.
