What Happened at the 2024 VEX Robotics Tournament (Community Matters)
How Hawaii Schools Advanced to the Global Competition. The host for this show is Jay Fidell. The guest is Adria Fung.
Adria Fung, robotics specialist at the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology at UH Manoa, helps us understand what happened in the 2024 Hawaii Middle and High School VEX Robotics Regional Championships held on January 26-28.
This competitive robotics event qualified 7 out of 44 Hawaii VEX robotics teams to advance to the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas.
Across the globe, there are about 20,000 VEX Robotics teams in 45 countries participating in VEX tournaments, and Hawaiʻi teams will have an opportunity to compete at the highest level in the world-class event.
Advancing from Oahu are Nanakuli High and Intermediate School, Saint Louis School, Mililani Mechs, Waialua High and Intermediate School, and Waianae Intermediate School.
Adria is a former robotics student and later a robotics coach, and knows firsthand about the value these events for inspiring youth to pursue careers in the STEM fields.
