Water’s Role in Energy Systems (Hawaii: State Of Clean Energy)
Energy, Water, and Civilization. The host for this show is Mitch Ewan. The guest is Toby Kinkaid.
Energy is fundamental to everything we do in our modern world. Water affects every aspect of life in our country. Surprisingly 44% of all water used in America is used for one thing – cooling down thermal power plants. That’s a lot of water! And as rivers and lakes heat up, even more water is needed. Projecting forward, even more electricity is going to be needed to run air conditioning systems and charge thousands of battery electric vehicles. Some places are already running out of water. This is a big problem that requires big solutions.
Using water in three ways through the ages, a new way of applying water to our energy needs, is discussed. The infrastructure debate between All Battery EVs (BEV), and Fuel Cell EVs (FCEV) is discussed. A new standardized power block to provide both DC Fast Charge, and Hydrogen fueling using the same infrastructure is discussed, providing a universal platform supporting all types of EVs.
