A Brief History of Solar Energy Part II (Hawaii: State Of Clean Energy)
Powering Engines with the Industrial Sun. The host for this show is Mitch Ewan. The guest is Toby Kinkaid.
In a Brief History of Solar Energy Part One Toby Kinkaid discussed the evolution of solar technology and applications from the ancient Greeks and Romans through the pursuit of driving high-temperature steam engines throughout the later half of the 1800s. The Pioneers included Mouchot, Ericsson, Enaes, and Shuman. Today, Toby continues the history of solar energy following the pursuit of using ‘Low Temperature’ Steam Engines through the work of de Saussure, Tellier, Willsie and Boyle leading up to the most powerful solar powered engine in the world–pumping 6,000 Gallons Per Minute–in Egypt built by Frank Shuman in 1913. Join us as we explore the amazing history of solar energy development with our Part Two of a Brief History of Solar Energy.
