Michael P. Hamnett, PhD, is Executive Director of the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii. He has 35 years of policy research, technical assistance, and training experience in the Pacific Islands region. He has organized and managed over 40 major public policy development, policy research, technical assistance and planning projects for Pacific Island governments, the State of Hawaii, and US government agencies. These projects have focused on energy, climate variability and change, application of climate information to decision-making, coastal resource and environmental management, disaster preparedness and mitigation, and other public policy problems.
