Save Your Life with Art and Poetry- Part 1 (The Creative Life)
Falling Back in Love with Your Life. The host for this show is Phyllis Blees. The guest is Joshua Kight.
We learn how to use art and poetry to ‘save our life’ from career artist, poet, and teacher Joshua Kight. We walk through a series of his life crises and learn his process of putting hands to paper, canvas, and mixed media to transform pain/crisis/boredom/’stuckness’ into relief. What came to him was a feeling of ease and calm from what he created—and excitement.
Josh calls the transformative process he experiences ‘Amor Fati’ – a Latin phrase meaning ‘Love of fate’ or ‘Love of one’s fate.’ He has fallen back in love with his life over and over again. Josh says the nature of creative expression means you are never beaten; there’s always a solution no matter how dire the circumstances.
By learning how Josh brings ‘Amor Fati’ into his life over and over again, we can too through whatever brings us joy.
This show concentrates on art leading to ‘Amor Fati.’ In Part 2, we learn ‘How to Save Your Life with Art and Poetry’ through poetry and the spoken word.
