An unknown number of credit card numbers were stolen by malware infected point of sale systems, those computer controlled cash registers you see at almost every retail store in the US. The malware essentially skimmed and stole credit card numbers when people went to cashiers to pay for Christmas presents. According to RSA, one of the world’s most reputable cyber security agencies, the GratefulPOS malware was undetectable by the top 65 Antivirus protection software on the market. They have categorized this threat as HIGH impact and have identified the country of origin as (no surprise) Russia.
