Covid and the Pandemics of Antiquity (ThinkTech Tech Talks)
Comparing them with Each Other and Modern Day Covid. The host for this show is Jay Fidell. The guest is Robert Littman.
Plagues are nothing new and have been part of human history for thousands of years. The recent pandemic of covid replicates many reaction of plagues in antiquity. Professor Robert Littman, professor of classics at UH Manoa (who is giving a talk on the subject at the Science Cafe), helps us understand the history and epidemiology of some of the world pandemics of antiquity: the Plague of Athens (430 BC), the Antonine Plague (165-180 AD), the Plague of Cyprian (250 AD), and the Justinian Plague (541 AD); and compare them with modern day covid.
