Hawaii Students Add Hydrogen Fuel Cell To Vehicle
Tune in for Stan the Energy Man where four Hawaii high school students install a hydrogen fuel cell range extender to a Polaris GEM, Low Speed Electric Vehicle. This vehicle is street legal in Honolulu for roadways posted at 35 mph or less, and qualifies for all electric vehicle perks, such as free metered parking on street. The conversion features addition of 100 Watts of photo voltaic solar panels and a 1kW hydrogen fuel cell to increase the range by at least 400% (even more, if sitting in the sun all the time!). This project proves, once and for all, that hydrogen fuel cells are so simple, not only can high school students do it, but even a pilot could do it!
