Freedom of Conscience and Religion (Cooper UNion)
Article 18: Beliefs for a Better World. The host for this show is Joshua Cooper. The guest is Beth Blissman.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights provides power of ideas to initiate change in the world. The UDHR outlines the opportunities for a new direction rooted in inherent dignity and inalienable rights for dynamic sustainable development and social democracy.
Article 18 focuses the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion and to manifest one’s religion or beliefs in teaching, practice, worship and observance. Article 18 is centered in President Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms citing Freedom to Worship. The UDHR calls for a coalition of conscience centered around trust and transformation while honoring values, voice and vision. On the 75th anniversary, it’s important to reflect on the role of human rights in our daily lives and world affairs.
