Doing More With Less (Hawaii: State Of Clean Energy)
Aurora Motor Uses 40% Less Electricity. The host for this episode is Mitch Ewan. The guest for this episode is Carlos Carvalheiro-Nunes.
Electric motors consume almost half of all global electrical energy (estimated at 7,500 TWh per year). International regulatory bodies have mandated the implementation of new efficiency standards to Electric Motor Driven Systems. At the current consumption levels and energy prices, a mere 1% efficiency improvement is worth an estimated $1.7 trillion. As energy prices continue to climb, every unit of energy saved is potentially worth tens of thousands of dollars saved over the lifespan of the motors. In fact, a 200 HP electric motor costing initially $10,000 will consume $1.4 Million in energy and $1.6 Million in downtime costs over its 20-year service life a $10,000 purchase quickly becomes a $3Million liability. Therefore the impetus to increase energy efficiency is self-evident. Aurora’s uses the Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C®) approach throughout design, manufacturing and reverse logistics processes. Aurora aims to attain a “net zero” effect on the environment.
