Learn about Hawaii renewable energy projects. The host for this episode is Mitch Ewan. The guest for this episode is Cameron Black.

The discussion will begin with a brief overview of the Hawaii State Energy Office (HSEO) established by law in 2019, including its structure and mission. Under its duty to “Identify, track, and report key performance measures and milestones related to the State’s energy and decarbonization goals,” HSEO created the online Hawaii Renewable Energy Projects Directory to showcase the large existing and proposed renewable energy projects that will help Hawaii reach 100% renewable energy independence by 2045. The Directory also serves the important function of informing community members of large projects being proposed or developed in their area. HSEO is prioritizing community outreach and engagement given the increased number of renewable energy projects and community concerns about them. HSEO is now assessing redevelopment of the Directory in a GIS-based platform, which would provide more capabilities to manage and communicate the project data.
