The Transformation of Chile (Latin American Directions)
A Hopeful Horizon for Latin America. The host for this show is Nicolás Süssmann Herrán. The guest is Catalina Fernández Carter.
Since 2019 Chile has undergone a social and political transformation. Following demonstrations against the rise in public transport fares and then against police brutality, Chilean society demonstrated its discontent with current affairs. That led to a popular vote for a new constitution and the election of progressive president Gabriel Boric, who seems to bring a different approach to left-wing politics to the region. Catalina Fernández Carter discusses with our host the causes and factors that led to that transformation and what is on the horizon for Chile and Latin America.
