‘The Least of Us’ by Sam Quinones (Books! Books! Books!)
What Can we Do About Drug Addiction in US. The host for this show is Mihaela Stoops. The guest is Kent Shaw.
17 new synthetic drugs were identified in 2020 alone. The farmers and drug lords have been replaced by ‘brains’ in super labs. Drug traffickers act like corporations and corporations act like drug traffickers, with no concern for consumers’ well-being, but only for their revenues. In his book, Sam Quinones introduces us to communities all over the country that have been affected by the opioid endemic and that are working hard to deal with it and its consequences. This is not just one addict’s problem, it affects all of us; it is the community that will have to offer support, mentorship, training and job opportunities for those trying to overcome their addiction.
