Mr. Watanabe is a retired attorney and the founder of Hawaii law firm, Watanabe Ing LLP. In addition to managing his law firm, Mr. Watanabe has served on the boards of six publicly traded companies and a score of privately held companies involved in energy, shipping, real estate development, banking, publishing, insurance, contracting, and biotech. He also continues to serve on the boards of domestic and international not-for-profits dedicated to improving the health and welfare of marginalized women and children. Mr. Watanabe has been recognized both locally and nationally for his work in governance, including as a board leader, and in the community. During his law practice, Mr. Watanabe focused on serving as strategic counsel for non-local clients seeking to do business in Hawaii. In this program, we will hear Mr. Watanabe’s thoughts on Hawaii’s unique socio-political and regulatory environments and their impacts on doing business in Hawaii.
