The 2nd Amendment and a Free Society (History is Here to Help)
What Does it Mean to us Today. The host for this show is Jay Fidell. The guests are Peter Hoffenberg and Avi Soifer.
Our panel discusses what the 2nd Amendment meant originally and how it has changed in interpretation, effect and historical impact in more recent years.
The language of it is short: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
That’s it. If only we could go back and talk to them about this. What did these words mean then, and now: Well regulated. Militia. Security of a free State. Keep and bear. Arms. Infringed. People = Militia?
