SCOTUS Blocks EPA to Control Carbon (American Issues Take One)
EPA and Other Agencies Need Congress’ OK. The hosts for this show are Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell. The guests are Cynthia Lee Sinclair and Winston Welch.
The SCOTUS ruling last week put a new restriction on the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon emissions from industry. Essentially, before the EPA can take steps to set limits of carbon pollution, Congress must pass a law to authorize the EPA with those powers. As Congress is in a state of constant gridlock, once again serious attempts to address global warming are put on hold. Further implications apply to other federal agencies that may now have to ask Congress permission to carry out its responsibilities. The panel explores this newly created dilemma and impact to the government’s ability to conduct its mission.
