Michelle Broder Van Dyke, Journalist and former Night Editor, BuzzFeed News Journalist Michelle Broder Van Dyke spent over 6 years as a Night Editor and Hawaii correspondent for BuzzFeed News reporting on everything from pop culture, politics to Hawaii’s top stories as part of the global breaking news team. She was among the 15% of BuzzFeed’s workforce recently laid off in January, including 1,000 non-union digital media employees. How have these new platforms of online media changed our way of consuming the news? A graduate of Columbia Univ. Grad School of Journalist, Michelle has reported news for the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle and Honolulu Civil Beat among other publications. As a Hawaii based journalist, she has won several awards, including first place in the Society of Professional Journalist Hawaii Chapter’s 2017 Breaking News Reporting award.
