Reimagining Veterans Day (Figments: The Power of Imagination)
Veterans Should be Thanked Not Pitied. The host for this show is Dan ‘Fig’ Leaf.
Fig, a 33-year Air Force veteran, selects on the meaning of Veterans Day. Yes, military veterans sacrifice and some suffer – but they ought not be pitied. Just 6% of Americans are military veterans. Fully 75% of young Americans are not even qualified to serve. Since 1973, all members of the military have been volunteers. They join for a variety of reasons – sense of obligation, desire for education, and sometimes simply to escape from whatever they need to escape from. In return, they earn unique connections, purpose and mastery in difficult times and places. Thank them for their service by being an American worth defending.
