Local Food, Local Places – Taking Action Towards Fresher Food – Erin O’Keefe
In 2015, HCDA and Oahu Fresh submitted an application for technical assistance from the federal Local Foods, Local Places initiative. Honolulu was among 27 communities selected to develop a Food System Action Plan. Planning workshops on local foods and community livability are taking place Aug 3-5. In this episode, Matt and Justine interview an EPA representative, Erin O’Keefe, who is helping to lead the workshops. We will get background on this collaborative federal program and hear how the EPA and planners see local food as a catalyst for smart growth, community engagement, and revitalization.
