Icy Volcanism on Europa with Sarah Fagents
Europa is one of Jupiter’s moons, and is known to have a liquid water ocean underneath an icy crust some tens of kilometers thick. Similar to the way in which we have eruptions of molten magma through the rocky crust on Earth, it is thought that some icy satellites have eruptions of water through the ice crust. Sarah Fagents, Researcher for the Hawai’i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology of University of Hawai’i at Manoa shares recent discoveries of evidence of icy volcanism on Europa.
