Each year, HWL honors individuals for their contributions to the profession, public service & support of HWL’s mission. HWL proudly awards its 2020 Judicial Achievement Award to Alexa Fujise, retired Judge, Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals. Judge Fujise was only the 2nd female to serve on the ICA. During her 15+ years on the bench, she was the lead judge/panel member on thousands of appeals, providing access to justice to litigants before the ICA. She also served on many boards & Committees, including the Appellate Review Task Force, Committee on Children in the Courts, Hawaii Board of Bar Examiners & Judiciary Committee on the Code of Judicial Ethics. She is also serves on the UH Law School Alumni Association Board.
