High efficiency homeless shelters (Code Green)
Minimal shelters, minimal energy use. The host for this episode is Howard Wiig. The guest for this episode is Constance (Connie) Mitchell.
One solution to homelessness is to downsize affordable housing. With clever design, one person can be comfortable in 300 square feet (ft2), a couple in 450 ft2, and a family of four in 700 ft2. Downsizing drops prices dramatically. HShelters for the homeless can be as small at 150 ft2, clustered around a central area for cooking/dining/bathrooms/showers/ clinics/ security/meetings and security. Electricity use limited to one light and one stationary fan.
