HI REHAB with Dr. Timothy Roe
Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) was recently ranked among the top one percent of all 783 inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the nation for 2014 by the Uniform Data System of Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR). This is the second year in a row REHAB has received exemplary ratings from UDSMR, advancing from the top three percent of all inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in 2013.
“We are deeply humbled by this great honor and proud to know that the life-changing treatment we offer here in the heart of Honolulu is among the best of the best in the country,” said Dr. Timothy Roe, REHAB president and chief executive officer.

“Our vision is to make REHAB one of the nation’s finest facilities, so it is especially gratifying to again be recognized by the UDSMR as achieving our goal,” he added. “We owe our deepest thanks to everyone in the REHAB ohana – our dedicated staff, our generous donors, and our board – for their tireless commitment to positively changing the lives of our patients and their families,” Dr. Roe said.
UDSMR is the international leader in data collection related to comprehensive medical rehabilitation services with a database of over 13 million patient assessments resulting from the past 25 years in the rehabilitation industry.
REHAB’s 2014 honor is primarily based on its successes with improving its patients’ ability to rebuild their lives after a debilitating injury or illness and function independently in doing everyday tasks.
The UDSMR evaluates the degree of improvement in a patient’s functional mobility over the length of their rehabilitative stay at the hospital and top rankings signify patients with a higher level of improvement resulting from a shorter hospital stay. The quality of patient-centered care is further enhanced in REHAB’s recently renovated facility – which includes a complete transformation of 70 patient care rooms and a new outside therapy mobility course, cardiac rehabilitation clinic, hospital-based physicians clinic and lobby and waiting area.
“From developing new care programs to offering the latest technologies, REHAB is unique in its ability to create a truly customized patient care plan for each individual that’s designed to enhance results,” said John Komeiji, REHAB’s chairman of the board and senior vice president & general counsel for Hawaiian Telcom. “Providing this world-class-level of treatment here in the islands allows patients to remain in Hawaii with their families during their healing process,” Komeiji added.
REHAB continues to be Hawaii’s industry leader in advanced rehabilitation treatment with their rehabilitation programs utilizing antigravity, exoskeleton and neuro-robotic technologies to optimize patient improvements provided through its hospital located in Nuuanu and its outpatient clinics in Nuuanu, Aiea and Hilo.
