Hawaii Island resident Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Heintz is an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and was an original member of Governor Cayetano’s “Blue Ribbon Panel on Living & Dying with Dignity” from 1996-1998. His areas of specialization are: Ethical Theory, Professional Ethics, Health Care Ethics, Social & Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Law. Dr. Heintz has taught and performed Health Care Ethics Research at Oxford University, Oxford, U.K., Free University, Amsterdam, Netherlands, the University of Auckland, New Zealand and has also taught at Southern Oregon State University, Ashland, Oregon and California State University, Stanislaus. He has been a Consulting Medical Ethicist since 1983.
