Hawaii Tourism Industry Update (Hospitality Hawaii)
2022 a Year Full of Optimism and Hope. The host for this show is Jon Conching.
Just when it appeared that the world was opening up for travel and that blue skies were literally ahead of us, the ominous appearance of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has reared its head to say “not so fast.” Since then, a number of countries have reinstated stronger restrictions for inbound travel from specific regions of the world. Others have instituted arrival quarantines and/or multiple testing protocols and the financial markets reacted accordingly. Here in Hawaiʻi, restrictions have eased and at this point, while medical facilities appear to be at the ready, new infections appear to have risen, but now that the State is generally restriction free, it would be a challenge to revert back to stricter protocol. So the visitor industry continues to move forward, visitor arrivals peak, then valley and all are waiting for what the holidays and Q1 of 2022 bring.
