Climate Change and Other Disasters Affect History (History is Here to Help)
Including Bad Storms, Floods and Droughts. The host for this show is Jay Fidell. The guest is Peter Hoffenberg.
It goes beyond eruptions like Vesuvius and Krakatoa. Yes, they have affected human history. But to one degree or another, disasters always have an effect on human history. These days, climate change is giving us a smorgasbord of disasters, from sea level rise to extreme weather, to adverse environmental changes in the air, the ocean and on the land. And of course, this gives us wildfires, floods, droughts, extinctions, starvation, violence and famines. These environmental and often violent changes affect our water and food supply, a breakdown of our social structures, and forced migrations all over the world. These changes are happening faster now and having an increasingly profound effect on humanity. They are affecting and changing human history. It is critically important that we appreciate the effects they have on humanity and our future.
