Moving heavy loads requires big engines and
lots of power. Seaports, even more so than highways, produce a lot of carbon and NOX pollution around the world, because of thecombination of ships that run their engines to make electricity in port, and trucks and other equipment that move the large inter-modal containers around the docks. Both sources of pollution are of high interest, but today we’ll focus on the vehicles. They constantly operate in arguably the poorest efficiency range of any internal combustion engine vehicle, ‘stop-and-go’. The sea ports in California and Texas are aggressively
looking at better ways to do this important job with cleaner power, and our guest will talk with Stan about what he and his company are doing to eliminate this problem.
