A Vision for Pacific Island Education
Tune in for Likable Science to look ahead to 2023, when many believe the Compacts of Free Association will lapse. Hawaii is likely to see an influx of Micronesians, particularly youth. Given the already major educational, economic, and health-related challenges the current Micronesian population here face, how can we prepare to cope with this influx. What needs to be done to prepare these new residents to integrate successfully into Hawaiian culture? What sorts of educational interventions should be developed and implemented? Paul A. Hadik, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer at Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, and Ethan Allen discuss this questions and more.
