Dementia Beyond Memory Loss (Young Talents Making Way)
“The most common type of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease, which makes up 50% to 70% of cases. An estimated number of 25,000 people live with Alzheimer’s disease in the state of Hawai’i. The societal cost of dementia in Hawai’i is high, especially for Ohana caregivers, and concern is on the raise. Ryan Nguyen, who is a student at Honolulu’s Kaiser High School, and his mentor Dr. Bebi Davis, Hawai’i State Department of Education and University of Hawai’i at Manoa, join us to share their research results and raise awareness on the importance of the Hawai’i State Science and Engineering Fair. Ryan carried out a science project for the Hawai’i State Science and Engineering Fair to answer critical questions related to this cognitive impairment disease and shares what he found with us. The host for this episode is Andrea Gabrieli. The guests for this episode are Ryan Nguyen and Dr. Bebi Davis”
