Dr. Ronald Gallimore Tells the Story. This is a success story about helping Hawaiian students achieve in the State public school. In the success story, Hawaii’s public schools used the findings of research on Hawaiian family life and culture for assisting Hawaiian students to achieve in school. Numerous local agencies, Bishop Estate Kamehameha Schools, prominent Hawaii leaders and educators supported the developing program. Eventually, a success story emerges when Hawaiian students showed skill gains in language and reading and the program received awards, even national acclaim.
