When Kamehameha Schools Got How Students Learn (The State of the State of Hawaii)
Making Schools Work For Hawaii’s Students. The host for this episode is Stephanie Dalton. The guest for this episode is Ronald Gallimore, PhD.
This story tells about Kamehameha School’s investment in a laboratory school using insights from a study of a Hawaiian community. The lab school goal was to develop a program to use to improve student success in Hawaii’s public schools, particularly those serving Hawaiian, part-Hawaiian families and students. After years of work with teachers and other experts, the lab school produced significant student learning gains in language and reading and the Kamehameha Early/Elementary Education Program (KEEP) was set to go to Hawaii’s public schools.
