According to an anthropological concept known as Blue Zones, certain characteristics appear in the lifestyles and environments of five regions that contain humans with the highest longevity. Many of these characteristics are related to diet, two of the five Blue Zones are located in the Mediterranean and it has been widely held that the Mediterranean Diet is a healthy eating plan.
