Violence is on the Rise in America (American Issues Take Two)
How Much of this is Because of Trump. The hosts for this show are Jay Fidell and Tim Apicella. The guests are Stephanie Dalton, Vicky Cayetano and Manfred Henningsen.
“Posts and searches for the term “civil war” have recently spiked on social media and podcasts as the midterm elections approach. And a White Christian nationalist movement, which insists that America was created to be a White, Christian nation, is growing in power.”
Trump showed his ability to activate bigotry and hatred in his base with his dog whistle. He showed us how to exacerbate violence in the streets of our cities, and incite it in the insurrection at our Capitol. His acolytes have suggested that there will be violence if he is indicted. He opposes gun control and he never condemns the violence but rather implicitly gives license to it, and we see the number of mass murders dramatically increasing. And he is now inviting violent bigots to meet with him at Mar-a-Lago. Police are quitting all of the country. What is the state of violence in America, and how much is Trump responsible for these dangerous increases. How much will it increase in the chaos of his forthcoming campaign. How will that affect our country and our democracy.
