Save Hawaii with Hawaii Saves (Aging with Grace)
The bills that can save Hawaii. The bills (SB1374 and HB1189) in the Hawaii Legislature are modeled after OregonSaves, the nation’s first state-facilitated retirement savings program. OregonSaves is seeing remarkable success in getting people who haven’t saved before to save their own money for retirement. More than 70 percent of those eligible for the program have enrolled. In 20 months, there are more than 60,000 participants and the amount saved is approaching $14 million. The average savings is $100 a month, about 5.6% of their paychecks.
