Photovoltaics, storage, peak reduction, shortage. Hawaii is throwing away enormous amounts of electrical energy every day because we can’t utilize all the photovoltaic (PV) generated energy. The solution is storage batteries to absorb energy by day and utilize at night to reduce peak demand. However, Hawaii is ill-equipped to provide adequate storage because inadequate power electronics, lack of designer talent and because lithium ion batters degrade in performance above 86 degrees F. Nick suggests solution. The host for this episode is Howard Wiig. The guest for this episode is Nick Dizon.
