Matt’s Oahu Fresh Ideas
Justine interviews her series co-host Matthew Johnson, CEO of Oahu Fresh (oahufresh.com). What started as a small-scale CSA (community supported agriculture) has evolved into the Oahu Fresh Food Hub, a centralized facility providing aggregation, storage, processing, distribution, and marketing of Hawaii grown products including fresh produce and value-added products. Oahu Fresh provides access to food from local farms for homes, offices, restaurants, hotels, and schools throughout Hawaii and also provides direct support to Hawaii’s local food economy through distribution, sales, grantwriting, and project management. When Matt’s not brainstorming about how to support local farmers, he’s teaching Ag business courses at WCC or practicing his pitch for his November 19th presentation as part of the Hawai’i Investment Ready’s 2015 Cohort. We’ll get the inside scoop on the history and vision of Oahu Fresh and Matt’s ongoing participation in Hawaii’s local food industry.
