I Imagined I Could Defy Gravity (Figments: The Power of Imagination)
Operational Law and 1200 Free Fall Jumps. The host for this show is Dan ‘Fig’ Leaf. The guest is Carleton Cramer.
Fig talks with CAPT (Ret) Carlton Cramer, currently the Dean of the College of Security Studies at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. He has had, to say the least, a very interesting life. Raised in the Marshall Islands where his father was involved in atomic testing. He attended law school and entered the Navy as a judge advocate general (JAG). His early Navy career involved typical assignments as a prosecuting and then defense attorney, but he migrated to operational law. As an operational lawyer, he first advised commanders of surface ships and aviation units. When he was selected for a special operations assignment, he felt he needed to establish street cred in that world, and attended jump school. Understandably scared on his first free fall jump, Carleton was quickly seduced by the adrenaline of skydiving, whether in uniform or as a civilian. He has over 1200 jumps – and he shares his experiences including four close (very close) calls.
