The first wave of Chinese students that arrived in the U.S. in 1872. Joan Brzezinski, Executive Director of the University of Minnesota China Center, describes the history of Chinese students in Minnesota. These international students are front line ambassadors in the U.S.-China relationship and have been applauded and then cursed over time as they are simultaneously regarded either as skills transfer agents or traitors.
Director Brzezinski also discusses the history of the China Center, the China Bridge Challenge and priorities for the Center for the current academic year.
