Lyle Fong. His daughter was a high school senior last year and assisted with the coordination of the workshop for seniors and their parents.

Here is his description of the workshop:

A team of experts educated seniors and their parents about the potential dangers of college life as most were preparing to go off to college. The dangers were specifically about the problems of alcohol and its relation to sexual assault.

The experts included Hawaii Pacific University Title IX officials that actually do such presentations to their incoming Freshmen class, as this is a requirement for all colleges to educate/train incoming students about alcohol and sexual abuse, a combination that has more recently been raised to the nation’s awareness on college campuses. A second presentation carried over the same subject matter and was done by the Sex Abuse Treatment Center of Hawaii….and though this organization’s name is intimidating, they did an incredible, tactful lecture with the assistance of a Honolulu Police detective who’s assigned to such cases. A second police detective gave a separate presentation on drugs on the street and college campuses….another eye-opener to all.
