Why Are Military Personnel and Veterans Supporting Trump (American Issues Take One)
Why Are Military Personnel and Veterans Supporting Trump; Trump’s Disrespect for Fallen Veterans is Astounding (American Issues Take One). The hosts for this show were Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell. The guest was Chuck Crumpton.
The discussion was: Trump’s recent comments comparing those who receive the civilian Medal of Freedom versus those veterans which were awarded the Medal of Honor was jaw dropping. His comments that soldiers getting shot, wounded or killed, somehow made the Medal of Honor a less desirable, less prestigious award to receive. Those comments echo back to Trump’s statements during the early days of the 2016 presidential campaign which Trump stated Senator John McCain was not a war hero because he his jet was shot down and he was taken as a POW during the Vietnam War. Also, insults spoken directly to Three Star General John Kelly, then current Chief of Staff, about soldiers killed in action and laid to rest in French soil as, ‘ losers or suckers’ Whether it be derogatory language about gold star families or deplorable statements about fallen US soldiers, military personnel apparently still support Trump in 2024. Why? The panel explores this question.
The takeaway was: rump gets a pass from current military personnel or Veterans despite his disrespect for those who serve in our armed forces. It’s a mystery why these glaring points of disrespectful comments are not taken into consideration by his supporters.
