The discussion was: The Baltics and Scandinavia have a long and troubled history with Russia, and given Putin’s expansionism they have expressed concern about what he will do after he and Trump deal with Ukraine. Our panel helps us understand their concerns, what Putin is doing and could do to move against them, and what they and Western Europe are doing and could do to protect them going forward. What role will NATO play. And what role, if any, will Trump and the US play in all of this.
The takeaway was: We have been focusing on Western Europe’s reaction to Putin and Trump’s ‘peace’ negotiations with Ukraine, but we should also be mindful of Putin’s plans to move West into the Baltics and against Scandinavia.
