The discussion was: Many Americans wondered why JD Vance was picked by Trump as the 2024 VP candidate. He certainty wasn’t selected to carry Ohio. Ohio is no longer a swing state. Was it Vance’s appeal to the grievance filled MAGA crowds? Hardly. Trump had that sector of voters sewed up since 2016. Then what’s his appeal for the GOP ticket? His willingness to do a 180 degree about face on every critical thing he ever wrote or said about Trump. He’s the kind of guy Trump loves to hold up to the world and demonstrate his mystical powers to turn a serious critic into yet another loyal lacky. Vance is the incarnate of Trump’s ego gratification. Should Trump be deemed incapable to complete his second term due to ill health or failing mental acuity, Vance will have one mission: to carry forward the Trump flag for Trumpism. Vance will do as he’s told and never question his role as a converted MAGA faithful. It’s a Trump legacy thing. On the debate stage, Senator Tim Walz will shine a brilliant light on Vance’s many personality flaws, outrageous statements, and misguided policy positions, as VP Harris did to Trump on her historic, memorable debate night.
The takeaway was: JD Vance’s debate performance will lack the one critical element every candidate requires to persuade voters, creditability. His pretzel like personality twist to gain Trump’s favor and the VP selection will cost him enormously on the debate stage. All Tim Walz needs to do is remind viewers how Vance arrived at the debate stage and what Vance had to sell of himself and the sacrifice of all integrity to get there.
